MANPORTABLE

S3’s Manportable design provides a UV-Raman sensor size and weight that are compatible with single-person portability while maintaining a strong standoff capability with interrogation ranges from 0.5 to 1.5 meters. The Manportable technology was specifically designed to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) National Decontamination Team and Department of Defense dismounted contamination mapping missions. Subsequently, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) provided funding to integrate a version of the Manportable sensor onto a Talon robot as part of the Rapid Area Sensitive-Site Reconnaissance (RASR) Advanced Technology Demonstration (ATD).
